about the artist

In 2008, Tania Y. Ramos Otón joined Esperanza Academy Charter School as the dance teacher and immediately started the Esperanza Academy Dance Ensemble. Through this group she provides high quality dance training in technique and performance in various forms from ballet to Latin. Tania has choreographed award-winning work for her students, including commissions for Kimmel Center, Opera Philadelphia and Arts Sanctuary.

As an educator, she has also worked for Balleteatro Infantil of Puerto Rico, Ballet Teatro Municipal de San Juan, Eglevsky Ballet, Temple University Department of Dance, and Muhlenberg College, among others. As a dancer, Tania is a former company member of Ballet Teatro Municipal de San Juan, Charles O. Anderson’s dance theatre X, and Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble.

She holds a B.A. in Theater from the University of Puerto Rico, and an Ed.M. in Dance from Temple University. 

In 2004 she received the Master of Education Emerging Dance Educator Award from Temple University, Boyer College of Music and Dance.
