In December 2019, we held a Family Portrait Day at Olney Recreation Center where attendees got their pictures taken for free as long as they shared with us their thoughts and survey feedback on the Rebuild project. Another one was held at Lowell Elementary School in March 2020 right before the COVID shutdown.

Olney recreation center rebuild initiative
Olney Culture Lab is working with Public Health Management Corporation and the City of Philadelphia’s Rebuild Initiative in 2019-2020 to engage the Olney neighborhood in finding out what residents want out of a renovation of the Olney Recreation Center.
With our connections to families, civic institutions and creative professionals in Olney, we are grateful to be able to contribute to the transformation of this important community resource and space.
Despite the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Rebuild is still progressing forward with the reconstruction of Olney Recreation Center with the aim of opening the new building in summer 2023.
