Pause in vivaldi - choreography by Tania Y. Ramos Otón
Choreographer Tania Y. Ramos Otón was invited in 2019 to expand on the pieces she had started to create for Tacony Creek Park. At the time, she was still the artistic director of the dance program at Esperanza Academy Charter High School. Then the pandemic hit and the project was put on pause. It was finally reconvened in 2022 at which point she had left the school and most of her students had graduated.
Nonetheless, Tania was able to regroup some of her alumni to bring us an updated version of what is now called “Pause in Vivaldi”
– a meditation on our relationship with our urban natural environment.
“Pause in Vivaldi” was performed at the Tacony Creek Park Music & Arts Festival on October 1, 2022. While it was originally designed as a site-specific outdoor piece, it was relocated to Grover Washington Jr. Middle School that day due to inclement weather.
